A staple for every marketing enthusiast or student and Kotler himself who basically created the notion of 'marketing mix' and many other marketing models and concepts, will always be of reference。 A staple for every marketing enthusiast or student and Kotler himself who basically created the notion of 'marketing mix' and many other marketing models and concepts, will always be of reference。 。。。more

Great introductory book。 So comprehensive。 "Marketing" is defined very broadly here, too, at least broader than I first thought。 Also product development, pricing and so on。 Great introductory book。 So comprehensive。 "Marketing" is defined very broadly here, too, at least broader than I first thought。 Also product development, pricing and so on。 。。。more

The Bible of marketing。This thick book encapsulates all the theoretical knowledge that one needs to know about modern marketing。Illustrated with plenty of real-life examples, this book covers a broad range of topics, including product marketing (what value you're offering to your customers), positioning, promotion, pricing, or distributionI strongly recommend this book。 The Bible of marketing。This thick book encapsulates all the theoretical knowledge that one needs to know about modern marketing。Illustrated with plenty of real-life examples, this book covers a broad range of topics, including product marketing (what value you're offering to your customers), positioning, promotion, pricing, or distributionI strongly recommend this book。 。。。more

I think this book is the most completed and comprehensive marketing book。 The book covers both traditional marketing area and on fast-growing and trending topics such as customer engagement marketing, mobile and social media, big data and etc。 The book format (somehow) is like academic book, so maybe it be useful for managers and professional marketers。

(The English review is placed beneath the Russian one) (The English review is placed beneath the Russian one) Менеджмент» или «Principles of Marketing»? It so happened that one of the first books on marketing (out of more than 200 books) was Kotler's book "Marketing。 Management"。 As for many of Kotler's other books, I found them rather weak (except for two books)。 And I have read almost all of Kotler's books, which were translated into Russian。 About 10 years after I started studying marketing on my own and after reading "Marketing。 Management", I also started studying English on my own。 The main goal at the time was not only to read books in English but to read the main marketing book in its original language。 Alas, but I gave up reading the book "Marketing Management。" However, two years later, I decided to return to my cherished dream。 But this time to read a similar, yet different book by Kotler, which is as popular and respected in the world as the book "Marketing Management。" It took me a long time to decide which book to choose: "Marketing Management" or "Principles of Marketing"? The fact is, the book "Principles of Marketing" comes second after "Marketing Management。" But I still haven't read Principles of Marketing。 And according to the release date, Principles of Marketing is a fresher publication。 Also, judging by the content, both books are not significantly different, i。e。, they are similar to key issues。 Although, yes, some points in the book "Principles of Marketing" are still missing (or were removed in the last edition), so I may have to read the last edition of "Marketing Management," for the tick。So, "Principles of Marketing," like the book "Marketing Management," provides the background for marketing as a profession。 In this case, the book is equivalent to a textbook on physics。 The reader gets the basics, without which it is impossible to understand what marketing is and how it works as well as to understand marketing as a system。 Then you can read Jack Trout, Al Ries, David Aaker, Drucker, or some modern authors of marketing literature like Seth Godin。 But Kotler is one of the few who does not give the reader a single view of marketing (be it positioning, competition, product creation, or promotion), but a comprehensive view of the entire marketing, how marketing looks in whole。 It is very important。 Many readers accuse Kotler that his books cannot be used in practice。 But it's like accusing a physics textbook of not giving the answer to the question "How to build a car that will not only drive on roads but also fly through the sky。" Kotler's book will give the reader a basis on which to build their marketing building in the future。 It is the main merit of Kotler, as well as the main purpose of this book。It should be noted separately that the book "Principles of Marketing" and "Marketing Management" can replace all textbooks on MBA related to marketing and management。 I have read quite a lot of them, but I always came to the conclusion that they do not even contain half of what the reader can find in these two books (or even one)。 And as for the content of the MBA books themselves, they are the same。 That is, we will not find anything else, new or remarkable there。 Plus, not only do MBA books contain nothing new or different, but they are written in such a complex language that reading turns into torture。 Whenever I have read these MBA books (I've read almost all of them that were published in Russian), I always came to the conclusion that it's much better to read Kotler, i。e。, his two (or one) textbooks, than to spend time reading these empty MBA books。As for the content of the book "Principles of Marketing," it makes no sense to retell it because there is always a chance to miss something。 So, I will say that in general, "Principles of Marketing," describes all the issues of marketing, but the book "Marketing Management" does it in a little more detail。 But since "Marketing Management" I have read the old edition, then perhaps these details are no longer present in the new one。 In general, the best way to get acquainted with the content of the book is by yourself。 。。。more
